As a freelance international performer of flute and piccolo, I have a busy schedule of guest appearances, frequently as Principal, with many major orchestras, ensembles, music societies and touring shows across the UK and beyond. I have recorded with Sony, Hyperion, EMI, the LPO label, Decca and SOMM. I have been invited specifically to record with conductors and composers. 2025 highlights
January
- London Philharmonic Orchestra tour of Japan.
- Festival Hall with the LPO, John Adams and György Kurtág.
- James Bond film music fans at Q the Music's winter retreat.
- In 2024 I had recorded Steven Dodgson's Four Poems of Mary Coleridge on the album named after the first work: Canticle of the Sun, with Sonoro under Neil Ferris, and the recording was released early in 2025 by SOMM records. BBC Music Magazine review: 'There is a darker edge to this piece, which is well matched by flautist Katherine Bicknell, whose gorgeous velvety tone and sinuous phrasing meet the score's every twist from light to shade.'
